Far too often, people think the health they have now is just how it has to be because it’s just too much work to improve it. However, this isn’t the case at all. You don’t have to aim to be a fitness influencer or a professional athlete; your goals can be much smaller and still make an immense difference in your life.

Start Walking

You don’t have to partake in a vigorous workout seven days per week to receive the health benefits of exercise. Instead, you can start slowly with something like walking a few times per week. And if you feel like you can’t squeeze an hour-long walk each time, fit in 10 to 15 minutes of it each day.

Though the recommendations call for 150 minutes of exercise per week, you don’t need to automatically shift your focus on meeting those goals. You can start with something more feasible that’ll be easier to incorporate into your life. From there, you can continuously add to your time as the exercise becomes easier.

If you don’t have it in you to force yourself to go for a walk, try adding walking to your life in other ways, such as by taking the stairs rather than the elevator whenever possible. Park your vehicle a little farther from your destination.

Make Your Bedtime a Bit Earlier

Ideally, the average adult needs at least seven to nine hours of quality sleep each night. Whenever you have a job or kids to get off to school, you may have an early wake-up time that’s pretty much set in stone, making it seem nearly impossible to get the sleep you need. You can ensure you get the sleep you need, though, by making your bedtime a little sooner.

If you typically stay up for the 11 o’clock news, watch the 10 or 6-pm one and get to bed. Ideally, try to go to sleep between the hours of 10 and 11 pm. One study suggested this time because it falls in line with your body’s 24-hour cycle. At all costs, you want to avoid staying up after midnight. If you sleep long enough to see the morning light, it’ll reset your internal clock.

Drink More Water

Proper hydration can ward off, so many health problems and keep your body working as it should, considering water is necessary for various functions. While you can still enjoy an occasional soda, morning coffee, or even a glass of wine, try drinking at least one or two glasses of water per day. Your body will thank you! Work your way up to drinking the amount of water recommended for your body weight.

Get Chiropractic Care

This is one way to improve your health that doesn’t require much effort on your part. You merely get in the car and drive to our office. Once you get here, you usually lie down for the appointment’s duration.

Chiropractic care has the potential to improve many aspects of your health. For one, it’s known to lessen your back pain, allowing you to lead a more comfortable life and possibly do more. By opting for this care, it may help other parts of your body as well, such as your neck. We also help those with headaches. Research shows a link between chiropractic care and a reduction in the intensity and frequency of headaches and migraine days.

Ultimately, when you feel better, you may be more inclined to work out and want to take better care of your health in other ways.

Change Up Your Seasonings

If your go-to seasoning is salt, you may want to shake things up a bit (get the pun?) and try some new seasonings to reduce your sodium intake. While your body needs a small amount of salt to regulate fluid intake and nerve and muscle function, among other uses, it only needs a small amount. Too much takes a toll on your heart and kidneys, to name a few examples of the negative health implications from too much salt. Therefore, if you’re salting a majority of your food or eating heavily processed foods, which often have added salt, try to add other flavors or spices to your meal.

One example is Mrs. Dash’s, which offers low-sodium, flavorful seasonings. Lemon juice, garlic, pepper, and onion powder are other options to enhance the taste of your food.
